Welcome to Indian Community Centre (ICC) in West of Melbourne
Welcome to the homepage of the proposed Indian Community Centre (ICC) in West.
LATEST UPDATE
On 6 August 2025 Victorian Government has released the Expression of Interest (EOI) process for Indian Community Centre in West with $2.4mil funding available to support it.
We have an opportunity for the Indian Community to jointly work on this project for the Indian Community Centre in the West.
ICC team has been doing advocacy for nearly 10 years for this project. Glad to see this coming closer to fruition and moving a step forward by the Expression of Interest submissions called by the Victorian Government https://www.indiancommunitycentre.org.au/
We are currently working with many community groups in the West on this project.
We are working on a very tight timeline on this for EOI submission.
If you can help and work on making this dream realised for all of us - please fill this Form asap https://forms.gle/Yga37SRMW6ScZfGw9 or connect our team with anyone interested to collaborate - email us at - board@indiancommunitycentre.org.au or call 0415661021.
We are gearing up to raise resources for this project, financial, skills and other capabilities; to make it happen.
It is great to see the Victorian Government attempting to fulfill this election promise of the 2022 election in this term. We are seeing it as an opportunity for us all to be in the race for this project - with all the work that has gone into it already by this group in identifying the need and our advocacy on that.
And all the work together by the community leaders in the west.
BACKDROP and ABOUT ICC:
Indian Community Centre in Melbourne's West is an important need exhibited by the community on different occasions under the guise of different names. Therefore, to crystalise this requirement of the community, the proposal for Indian Community Centre (ICC) in West has come into existence in early 2018, when all major stakeholders met in February 2018.
The project is steered by the team that worked from the days when successful advocacy was done for an Indian Cultural Precinct in Wyndham in 2015. The community got together and defined its needs in 2017-18, to unitedly work towards an Indian Community Centre in Wyndham.
Nearly 50,000 persons of Indian ancestry call Wyndham their home (Source ABS - Census 2021). That is significant 17.4% of Wyndham population of 292,011 people (Source ABS - Census 2021).
Importantly, the idea of ICC has come from consultation with the community and identifying the needs to meet the growing community's needs. The focus is our local community!
The ICC not only aims to build strong and connected community, but importantly to provide a venue that meets specific and emerging demands of a growing population in west.
Remember, the ICC is a seed idea that we all have sown together and this team is only working tirelessly to bring it to fruition for you. So, let’s get together collectively in this endeavour and try to make ICC in West a reality – a place for congregating on social events, a place to celebrate, a place to learn and a place to spread our cultural heritage for generations to come. As we all come together from different cultures and faiths to build ICC, your help is crucial!
